Under the goal of carbon neutrality, new requirements have been put forward for the subsequent development of the renewable energy industry. Not only must large-scale installation be achieved, but high-efficiency consumption must be reached. The stability of the power system is facing greater challenges, thus proposing the need to further enhance the active support capability of the power grid.

Compared with the traditional power system dominated by synchronous generators, the new power system with high portions of renewable energy and electronic equipment has lower inertia, lower damping, and weaker voltage support. China's power grid presents a complex form with strong couplings between AC and DC, transmitting and receiving ends. Therefore, the grid voltage levels are composite, making it hard to coordinate between high and low voltage levels and between transmitting and receiving ends. This poses greater challenges to the safe, efficient, and optimized operation of the power system. Therefore, it is urgent to study the technology of transient support for frequency and voltage regulation for renewable energy access.

SPRIXIN’s Technical Achievement on Transient Response Device for Renewable Energy
To improve the “friendliness” of renewable energy to the power grid and to ensure the economic operation of renewable energy power plants, SPRIXIN developed the "Transient Response Device for Renewable Energy", mainly integrating the functions of primary frequency regulation, inertia response, and fast voltage regulation. When the voltage, frequency, and frequency change rate of the grid-connected point of the renewable energy power plant exceed the limit, it can quickly and actively adjust the active and reactive output of the power plant, and transiently stabilize the frequency and voltage of the power grid, so that the renewable power generation can also present the characteristics of a synchronous machine that makes virtual synchronous adjustment without being cut off by the stability control system. SPRIXIN's "Transient Response Device for Renewable Energy" has been tested to perform strong stability.

In the past, renewable energy power generators are usually removed in priority due to the solid intermittent nature of wind power and photovoltaic power generation, the lack of rapid adjustment capabilities like traditional units, and the fact that they are easily disconnected from the grid due to low voltage or overvoltage in accidents. Renewable energy power plants are numerous and scattered, and there are two ways to stably control them. One is a relatively loose control mode, which is relatively simple and has a small number of stability control devices, but there are problems such as slow recovery speed. The other is a relatively fine control mode that has a relatively higher recovery speed from accidents but requires more stability control devices. However, both of the control modes will take a long time to restore from the cut-off of the whole power plant or its feeder, which reduces the economic utilization level of renewable energy and will have a certain impact on the safety and working life of the equipment. Therefore, for control technology, higher requirements have been put forward for inertia response, primary frequency regulation, and rapid voltage regulation capabilities. SPRIXIN's "Transient Response Device for Renewable Energy" has solved the problems caused by the above two methods to the greatest extent, improving the level of renewable energy operation control.

Provinces represented by Shandong and Zhejiang have successively started tests on the technology of transient response devices for renewable energy, and SPRIXINhas has also taken the lead in passing the three-in-one test of fast frequency regulation, inertia response, and fast voltage regulation of Zhejiang Electric Power Research Institute with all performances exceeding the national standards. SPRIXIN is the first company to pass the fast voltage regulation test of Zhejiang Electric Power Research Institute, and has been granted the Electric-Research-Institute-certified test report of transient response devices for renewable energy. After the product’s mass production and promotion, it will become the strongest guarantee for the safe and stable operation of the new power system with renewable energy as the main body.
